Cleaning and Prevention
Prevention is the best treatment in dentistry. An exam can help to identify potential problems before they cause airway collapse or irreversible damage to your teeth or bone, infection, or pain. Our exam includes an oral cancer screening, a screening for dental-facial growth problems (begins with the Age 1 Dental Visit), and screening for periodontal and dental disease. Regular cleanings help to remove hardened calculus your toothbrush and floss can't clean. Remember, calculus harbors active bacterial colonies which can cause inflammation of the surrounding tissues of the teeth, leading to bone loss. (See Periodontal Treatment below)
Craniofacial Dental Sleep Medicine
Our team provides upper airway screening, development and management for both children and adults. We treat obstructive sleep apnea (OSA), snoring, jaw joint and muscle pain, and malocclusion (bad bite) using the FDA cleared mRNA or DNA oral appliances from Vivos Therapeutics in biomimetic oral appliance therapy (BOAT).
We use Vivos guides to help direct and improve craniofacial growth for developing children, so they may avoid more complicated orthodontic procedures in the future, resulting from overcrowding. Guiding proper growth instead of simply “moving teeth within bone” can even prevent or treat signs and symptoms of obstructive sleep apnea in children, including sleepiness, poor focus in school, ADHD, bedwetting, chronic ear infections and more.
